Food Storage

My very good friend and I decided to put together some of our food storage. So for the past few months we have been collecting rice, pinto beans and pasta. It was our wards turn for the pouch sealer, so we took our turn and pouched up our all our food. First of all it was so much fun. We really had a good time just talking and watching our piles grow. Our goal was 100 pouches since we had one hundred oxygen absorbers we ended up with fifty pouches each. We were a little short so I made a quick trip to Sams Club and bought more pasta and rice. It was pretty funny in the check out line. The lady at the register asked me what I was doing with eight bags of pasta. I just smiled and said I was putting together food storage, she just looked at me like I was crazy and told me the total. I am glad that we were able to put all this food together, Mike and I have been really trying to get our one year supply of food together. The next challenge will be getting our water stored. We also turned this into our family home evening by teaching our kids why we have food storage, then we had them help us put the pouches in the boxes.
